McDuffie Fired from JLA

Justice League by BenesDwayne McDuffie is off Justice League. While I don't like to see anyone lose work these days, I can't say that I'm sorry to see him leave. DC needs to put an A-List creative team on this title yesterday.

McDuffie replied to a post on his own blog regarding his status on the book. He is quoted on Newsarama as saying:

"...it was my own doing. I was fired when "Lying in the Gutters" ran a compilation of two years or so of my answers to fans' questions on the DC Comics discussion boards. I'm told my removal had nothing to with either the quality of my work or the level of sales, rather with my revelation of behind-the-scenes creative discussions."

DC Comics Solicitations for August 2009

Check out the HI! Galleries for DC's latest offerings, set to ship in August. Highlights? We got your highlights right here! Blackest Night is in full swing. Superboy is back in all his "who cares what the legal ramifications are?" glory, and starring in the brand-new Adventure Comics. And what the heck are these things?

No solicitation copy this time, kids. But there's no easier way to browse through the pretty pictures DC has sent out. Enjoy!

Become a HI! Contributor!

Okay, registered users of Heroic Images!, we're ready to rock. But instead of User Albums, the new HI! is going to allow you to add images to the main HI! Galleries. Here's how to do it:

  • Navigate to the appropriate gallery (for instance, a picture of Bizarro would go in Villains/B/Bizarro)
  • At the bottom of the page, click on the drop-down menu and select "Add Items"
  • Upload your image (make sure the image file has a logical, descriptive name like "Bizarro by Byrne"
  • Wait for the image to be approved & added by an admin

That's it! I'm not setting an upload limit at this time, but please don't add hundreds of images, as I won't be able to add them quickly. And make sure that the quality of your uploads is worthy of Heroic Images! In other words (here comes another list):

  • No watermarks or web addresses on the pics
  • No scanned comic pages filled with word balloons
  • Don't upload a bunch of DC's covers - unless there's a particular one that's missing from the site
  • Nothing naughty or graphic (think PG... maybe PG-13)

So let's see what Heroic Images! you've got up your sleeves. Help us build the largest, highest-quality DC Comics image gallery on the 'net!

Free Gallery Days!

The HI! Galleries are open to guests of the site for a few days. Check out the latest additions without needing to join up. And very soon members will be able to upload their own images to member galleries again.

So guests, enjoy the view!

New DCAF Customs

GL Alan ScottI'm so excited to have gotten back into customizing. It's one of my favorite "side effect" hobbies of being a comic book lover. And Mattel's DCIH (Infinite Heroes) line has me canvassing local retailers, looking for the next batch. As usual, they can't make enough of them fast enough to sate my toy hunger.

The updated DCAF section has lots of new goodies, including DCIH customs of Green Lantern Alan Scott, a JLI-era Fire, the modern Superwoman, and many others. There are a couple shots of my custom Fortress of Solitude playset. Also look in the Total Justice section for a Lex Luthor custom I did a couple years back. It's Kevin Spacey in LL's comic book armor, and it's one of my personal favorites in the 5" scale.
Hope you dig 'em.

Green Lantern Movie

Man, I couldn't be more stoked about the Green Lantern movie that's (almost certainly) being filmed this fall. Who will play Hal? What other favorites will be included? Will we see Oa and the Corps? Yeah, this is old news, to be sure, but I think it's worth posting! We'll track the progress of this one closely.

It's 1999 All Over Again

DC ComicsThanks for stopping by. I'm in the process of finishing up the installation and initial design process of the new Heroic Images! site. Suffice it to say that it isn't the same Heroic Images! of the past few years.
